Dragon's Dogma 2 Review

Capcom's long-awaited sequel is exactly what fans wanted: it's basically the first game, but much bigger and much prettier. However, its stubborn refusal to conform to modern open-world conveniences will divide players.

Gameplay & Mechanics

Combat is a chaotic joy. Scaling a griffin mid-flight while your AI Pawn casts a meteor shower is an experience you can't get anywhere else. The lack of easy fast travel forces you to plan expeditions, making every journey feel like a true adventure.

Graphics & Sound

The RE Engine renders a stunning, reactive world, though the game suffers from severe CPU bottlenecking in major cities, causing noticeable framerate drops.

The Verdict

A brilliantly flawed masterpiece that refuses to hold your hand.

  • Pros: Unrivaled combat freedom, excellent Pawn system, highly immersive exploration.
  • Cons: Terrible city performance, clunky UI, repetitive enemy encounters in the late game.

Final Score: 8.5/10
