Black Myth: Wukong Review
After years of jaw-dropping trailers, Game Science has finally released their debut action RPG. Based on Journey to the West, Black Myth: Wukong is a visual spectacle.
Gameplay & Mechanics
Unlike a traditional Soulslike, Wukong plays more like a classic character action game. The staff combat is deeply satisfying, utilizing various stances and magical transformations. You aren't just dodging; you are actively parrying and counter-attacking with spells.
Graphics & Sound
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, this is arguably one of the best-looking games of the generation. The environments are lush, and the fur rendering on characters is hyper-realistic.
The Verdict
While held back slightly by invisible walls and linear level design, the core combat loop and boss encounters are world-class.
- Pros: Stunning visuals, fantastic boss variety, engaging transformation mechanics.
- Cons: Linear level design, lack of build variety compared to true RPGs.
Final Score: 9/10
