Navigating Monopoly Go's Event Cycle

Events are the core progression engine in Monopoly Go. While rolling dice around the standard board earns cash and basic net worth upgrades, participating actively in limited-time events is how top players earn tens of thousands of dice, rare sticker packs, and high-value player tokens.

To consistently win event rewards without burning through your dice bankroll, you need to understand how each event type operates and how to exploit their mechanics.

1. Top-Banner Solo Events

Solo events run across the top of your screen for 2 to 4 days at a time. These events require you to collect specific points by landing on designated tiles across the board.

Common Tile Patterns

• Tax and Utility Tiles: Points are awarded strictly for landing on Income Tax, Luxury Tax, Electric Company, or Water Works. Because these tiles are scattered sparsely around the board, save your high multipliers for when you are within 6 to 8 tiles of a tax/utility cluster.
• Pickup Tokens: Event tokens spawn randomly on property tiles. Target areas on the board where 2 or 3 pickup tokens align within a 6 to 8 tile range of each other.
• Corner Tiles: Points are earned only by landing on GO, Just Visiting, Free Parking, or Go To Jail. Because there are only four corners, corner events generally require higher dice expenditure per point earned; adjust your expectations and dice multipliers accordingly.

2. Tournament Rushes (Right-Side Events)

Tournaments run on the right side of the screen, typically lasting 24 hours. Points in tournaments are earned exclusively by landing on Railroad tiles.

Maximizing Railroad Payouts

• Shutdowns vs. Bank Heists: Bank Heists offer significantly higher point values than Shutdowns. During Mega Heist flash events, heists yield double points, making tournaments far more lucrative.
• Sniper Strategy: Do not waste dice attempting to maintain 1st place early in a 24-hour tournament. Monitor the leaderboard and push for top placement during the final 1 to 2 hours of the event.
• Bracket Management: Tournament leaderboards place you in groups based on recent performance. If you intentionally play lightly for a couple of tournaments, you will be placed in less competitive brackets with much easier top rewards.

3. Special Recurring Minigames

Monopoly Go features three major recurring special event formats that require unique strategies:

Partner Events (Co-op Build-Offs)

• The Objective: Work with four partners to accumulate points and build four themed structures on your board.
• Strategy: Always secure four reliable partners before starting. Focus on completing one building at a time to unlock intermediate dice rewards that can fuel your progress toward the remaining buildings.

Peg-E Prize Machine (Plinko)

• The Objective: Drop Peg-E tokens into a Plinko-style board to hit bumper targets and collect rewards at the bottom.
• Strategy: Save up hundreds of tokens before playing. Set your drop multiplier to x5 or x10 and aim for the rightmost drop slot to clear bumper targets efficiently and maximize point loops.

Digging Treasures (Excavation Events)

• The Objective: Use pickaxes to clear grid tiles and uncover hidden artifacts across dozens of levels.
• Strategy: Dig in a grid pattern based on the dimensions of the missing artifacts listed at the top of the screen. Avoid digging random single tiles until you have isolated the shapes.

Golden Rules for Event Efficiency

• Stack Your Progress: Only roll heavily when a Solo Event, Tournament, and Special Minigame are active at the same time.
• Know the Cap: Stop rolling when the next milestone requires an unreasonable amount of points relative to the dice reward offered.
• Convert Leftovers: Minigame tokens (like unused pickaxes) automatically convert into cash or dice when the event ends, giving you a bonus payout.
